The Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps was incorporated in 1948 and has continuously served the Borough of Fair Lawn since that time. Currently the Corps has nearly 40 volunteers who staff the ambulances 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The Corps handles nearly 2000 calls per year in Fair Lawn and a small percentage as mutual aid in surrounding communities. Starting in 1995 nearly all members were certified as EMT-Ds (defibrillator). Since the start of EMT-D two lives saved can be directly attributed to the program.

HOW TO JOIN

The Corps is actively seeking new members. All of our members are strictly volunteer and various memberships have different requirements. All classifications are desperately needed:

Classification	Ages	Comments
General	19+	Responsibilities include driving the ambulance, patient care, serve on committees, meeting attendance (75%) and minimum of 22 hours on call time every two weeks. Must become certified in CPR and EMT.
Associate	19+	Responsibilities include driving the ambulance, patient care, serve on committees, meeting attendance (50%) and minimum of 10 hours on call time every two weeks. Must become certified in CPR and EMT.
Youth	16-19	Responsibilities include patient care, meeting attendance (50%), serve on committees and minimum of 6 hours on call time every two weeks. Must become certified in CPR and EMT.
Auxiliary	Any age	Physical & mental limitations welcomed. Responsibilities include serving on committees, fund drive, and other non-emergency responsibilities as needed.

EVENTS

The Corps is currently organizing it's 50th Anniversary Celebration. Anyone with pictures or other memorabilia from the Corps are encouraged to submit them to the "Historical Committee" at the above mentioned address.

The Corps also operates on the H.E.A.R. (Hospital Emergency Access Radio) when contacting hospitals (155.340). ALS (Advanced Life Support (paramedics)) are dispatched through MICCOM (155.175).
