We have reached Camp 3
Our first high camp at 4600 metres and are now within
approximately 7 days of the summit. Our weather continues to be great - let's
hope it holds!
Everyone is a little tired from the long days of climbing. Tomorrow, we're
going to put our feet up, take in the scenery and soak up a few rays of
sunshine. We are one of the few Canadian groups climbing Mount Logan right now
- the other groups represented include Japan, Switzerland, England the U.S. -
so we're looking forward to unfurling the Canadian flag on the summit.
Our food has been great so far - at least for mountaineering - you might not
want to serve it up to guests at home. Breakfast, this morning, consisted of
instant potatoes with bacon bits, cheese and lots of butter to boost our
calorie count. Lunch was peanut butter and jam bagels, Christmas cake and
chocolate covered almonds. Tonight we're looking forward to chicken ragout.
Speaking of dinner, we'd better get the stoves going; it takes almost 3 hours
to prepare a meal here as we must melt snow to get our water!
All for now from the
Logan Team at Camp 3
