For more than 1000 years till the capital was moved to Tokyo in the
Meiji Restoration,
though it didn't have national administrative power, Kyoto had remained
as the capital of Japan.
Although the Court lost its power, as one justice its will
have had its influence on Japanese history.
Because the Court had been there for a long time, the flowery noble
culture prospered,
and Kyoto dialect is known in its gentle tone.
Also, lots of cultural remains such as textiles, pictures, buidings, and
calligraphy still now remain,
to have a look at them, every year
extremely lot of people from home and abroad visit here.
To tell about its culture, we cannot forget
Kyoto University which represents Japan.
Though Kyoto is the city in which traditions live, looking on its industry
it has been in dilemma between the increasment of productive rates and what
cannot be destroyed.
In the modern which is acceleratingly hi-technolonized
how would it associate with tradition? It is the big problem for Kyoto.
