MAGNUM OPUS

The Magnum Opus

The Magnum Opus of the week is Beethoven's Ninth Symphony . This work is considered to be the most known and the most unusual symphony which has ever been composed. Apart from lasting more than an hour, in the mighty finale, Schiller's Ode to Joy , Beethoven incorporates four singers and a choir in what - compared to the works of his contemporaries - is a greatly expanded orchestra.

You can hear the following fragments from this famous work:
The Fourth movement (Presto)
The Finale (Ode "An die Freude")
The Second movement (MIDI)
The Fourth movement (MIDI)
