NOW ASIA

[Hong Kong] [Taiwan] [Japan] [Korea] [Malaysia] [Indonesia] [Thailand]

Contemporary Asian musics in the limelight. However, they have various troubles within them. The permeation of Western musics brings the borderlessness of cultures, at the same time, calls danger of identity loss. Artists who lost individuality, often pursuing it, come back to traditional musics, touch up, and popularize them using electric instruments and amplifiers, but it is certain that electronized existing music style developed like this is made at the sacrifice of traditional one. Some musicians aim at a success being not able to have their identity but the numbers. Can they produce the works which are fit for world attention? Can they get out of imitative music growth? It is not too much to say that contemporary Asian musics are now made a trial.

In Munich disco musics rise,
then the new stars named producers are born.
In the future the supoeriority of producers
and the definitive role of "sound" would be remained.
The recorded musics would circulate more internationally,
and their birthplaces would become more vague.
