동경... 이곳에서 어떤 상상을 할수 있을까. 일본의, 아시아의, 아니 세계 경제의 일대거점. 근대적인 빌딩 사이를 사람들이 꽉 찬 철도가 달린다. 씨부야, 긴쟈, 오우떼마찌, 신쯔꾸, 아오야마... 동경은 여러가지 표정을 가진 동내가 하나로 되어 욕망을 채생산하며 날마다 변하는 근대한 카오스이다. 동경이란 이름은 1868년 메이지정부가 에도성을 무혈개성한 후 에도를 동쪽의 꾜우또란 뜻으로 「동경」이라고 했다. 그후 동경은 경제, 정치, 문화의 중심으로 되었다. 대전후 괴매적인 대공습에도 불구하고 동경은 불사조처럼 소생했다. 그러나 그 과정에 도시의 강력한 지도자가 없었기때문에 파리와 같은 정연한 발전은 못했다. 생물처럼 자체로 세포분열을 되풀이 하며 증식해 왔다. 그 것이 오늘의 도로나 공원의 정비, 주택의 공급이나 지하수 시설와 같은 큰 문제를 이르키고 있다. 그러나 동경이 새물처럼 증식한다는 성질이 도경이란 도시의 매력의 하나로 되어있다.그렇기때문에 동경은 가장 post-modern city로 세계에서 주목받고 있다. |
