1.Osaek Area

Location :
Osaek-ri, So-myon, Yangyang-gun, Kangwon-do

  This mountain is the highest offshoot (with Taech'ongbong Peak, its highest peak of 1,708 meters) from the long range of Taebaeksan mountains which virtually forms the spinal columns of Korean Peninsula, stretching north to south along the east coast.
This is also the most beautiful mountain in the South Korea withits many splendid seasonal features; numerous dazzling flowers such as royal azalea blooms in the spring, crystal clear mountain streams in the summer, magnificent autumn-tinted mountain foliage during the Sorak Festival season, and finally snow-veiled winter grandeur are always ready all the year round to invite the tourists to their breathtaking natural wonders.
Han-gyeryong Pass and Mishiryong Pass together form a long winding ridge which demarcates the entire park area into Inner Sorak in the West and Outer Sorak in the East.
Inner Sorak has many spectacular features like majestic valleys including Paektam Valley, Suryomdong Valley, Paegundong Valley and Kaya Valley.
Outer Sorak, on the other hand, became known for its rocks with fantastic shapes and large waterfalls; Ulsanbawi Cliff, Kwongumsong Fortress, Kumganggul Cave,
Piryong Waterfall andTowangsong Waterfall are among many sights to visit.

    Take express bus bound for Sokch'o which stops at Osaek. It takes 4 hours and 10 minutes.

2.Paektamsa Temple Area

Location : Inje-gun, Kangwon-do

 This mountain is coming from the long range of Taebaeksan mountains which is called as the spinal columns of Korean Peninsula.
Mt. Soraksan is the highest one with Taech'ongbong Peak. Han-Y has been talked that it is 1,708 meter high.
This mountain has attracted many home and abroad tourists all year around, for it is surely the most beautiful mountains in the South Korea with its many splendid seasonal features.
Numerous dazzling flowers like royal azalea blooms in the spring, crystal clear mountain streams in the summer.
During the Doark Festival season of the fall, we go there for maginficent autumn-tinted mountain foliage.
 One more, in the winter the snow-covered peaks and natural wonders would halt your breath for a while.
Han-gyeryong Pass and Mishiryong Pass are the entrance for Inner Sorak in the West and Outer Sorak in the East. Inner Sorak has many wonderful valleys including Paektam Valley, Suryomdong Valley, Paegundong Valley and Kaya Valley.  On the other hand, Outer Sorak is very famous for its rocks with fantastic shapes and large waterfalls, such as Ulsanbawi Cliff, Kwongumsong Fortress, Kumganggul Cave, Piryong Waterfall and Towangsong Waterfall.

  • Folk festivals
    Hapkang Cultural Festival (supervised by Inje-gun) held at Inje Complex stadium is the mixture of various events including Hapkang ritual ceremony, various cultural events, folk arts festival and sports events. It last for two days; Sep. 9 & 10 (every year).

3.Sorak-dong

Location : Sorak-dong, Sokch'o-shi, Kangwon-do

  Mt. Soraksan is the highest mountain (its Taech'ongbong Peak is 1,708 meters high) of the T'aebaek Mountain Range, the backbone of the Korean Peninsula.
It is also one of the most beautiful mountains in South Korea.
Many flowers decorate it in the spring, while the crystal-clear water of its valley attracts tourists in summer.In fall, brilliant autumn leaves create a crescendo of colors, and in winter, the entire mountain area turns into a silver wonderland.
The park is divided into Inner Sorak and Outer Sorak by a ridge which connects Han-gyeryong,
Taech'ongbong Peak and Mishiryong. Boasting rugged yet breathtaking scenery, Inner Sorak lies west of the ridge.
It contains many valleys including Paektam Valley, Suryomdong Valley, Paegundong Valley and Kayadong Valley. Meanwhile, Outer Sorak, which stretches east of the ridge, features many rugged rock formations and cliffs as well as huge waterfalls, including Ch'onbultong Valley, Ulsan Rock, Kwongumsong Fortress, Kumgang Cave, Piryong Waterfall and T'owangsong Waterfall.
Cooking and camping hre have been forbidden since Nov. 15th, 1990.
The National Park Management Corporation forbids visitors from entering certain areas in order to preserve the park.
