Mt. Soraksan is the highest mountain (its Taech'ongbong Peak is 1,708 meters high)
of the T'aebaek Mountain Range, the backbone of the Korean Peninsula. It is also one of the most beautiful mountains in South Korea. Many flowers decorate it in the spring, while the crystal-clear water of its valley attracts tourists in summer. In fall, brilliant autumn leaves create a crescendo of colors, and in winter, the entire mountain area turns into a silver wonderland. The park is divided into Inner Sorak and Outer Sorak by a ridge which connects Han-gyeryong, Taech'ongbong Peak and Mishiryong. Boasting rugged yet breathtaking scenery, Inner Sorak lies west of the ridge. |
