Hyonch'ungsa Shrine |
กกกกHyonch'ungsa is a shrine dedicated to Admiral "Ch'ungmugong" Yi Sun-
Shin of Choson Dynasty. He was surely a great person who has long been
on the list for respectful persons.
This shirine is located on Mt. Panghwasan, 4 kilometers from downtown
of Asan city.
It was built in 1706, the 32nd year of King Sukjong's reign. One year
later, King Sukjong gave the shrine the name "Hyonchungsa".
In 1966, the government expanded the shrine's compound to 342,112 square meters,
and declared it a national shrine.
On the site are the exhibition hall
where a portrait of Admiral Yi, Sipgyongdo, a painting describing
his life, War Diary (National Treasury No.76) and his long sword
(Treasure No.326) are on display. And additionall it has the private
residence of Admiral Yi, and an archery field.
