The 38 figures carved on the wall of the chamber are all masterpieces.
With the overall harmony, the grotto has sophisticated aspects of philosophy and science.
At the center of the chamber is a huge seated Buddha image made of white granite, which gazes toward the East Sea on the remote horizon.

From Kyongju bus terminal, take the city bus to Pulguksa. It runs every 10 minutes and takes 45 minutes. And 20 minutes by bus from Kyongju Station.

Mt. T'oham

Location : Kyongju-gun, Kyongju-shi, Kyongsangbuk-do

ˇˇDuring the Shilla Kingdom, Mt. T'oham was one of the five principal mountains.
Still now, the 745 meter high Mt. T'oham has traditionally served as a sacred place of the Buddhist religion. Numerous relics and remains are scattered around, making the whole mountain a historic place with full of the Shilla's spirit.
The sokkuram Grotto is on the top and Pulguksa Temple is at the base of the mountain.
