I: Monkeys on Yakushima Island on Seibu Wood Path in the West Part of the Island: 91k
11:00, March 6, 1996

"Monkeys are eating something tough. The sound was recorded at about 2 o'clock. They are not fed by anyone. I set a microphone, but the monkeys moved away. I had to get close to the monkeys, but the microphone would record the sound of my movement, so I needed to be still. The monkeys were cautious of me, so I approached them slowly. They made cautionary noises. I kept still and the monkeys returned to their usual activities. It was most interesting. Feeding changes the behavior of monkeys. The monkeys looked really good in nature."
