Carl mentioned this to me before, but I forgot to tell you guys. So, I

NO MORE FREE ACCESS TO SEC RECORDS
The Securities and Exchange Commission's Edgar system (short for Electronic
Data Gathering and Retrieval), will no longer be carried on the Internet
come October 1 when the government grant that sponsors the system expires.
For the past two years, Edgar has made more than 3 million documents, from
corporate proxy statements to mutual fund reports, available free through an
arrangement with the Internet Multicasting Service, which sponsors the site.
"The whole process of data dissemination costs money. Do you want taxpayers
to pay for corporations -- including the press -- to get free filings?" says
the senior SEC official on the Edgar project. A hearing will be held Monday
to discuss alternative funding possibilities. (St. Petersburg Times 12 Aug
