There lies a strip of mountains on one side of the region, East Sea on
the other. There are many dishes which are simple but tasty in this
region. In the mountainous area there are more vegetable dishes with
less meat and fish. On the seaside the dishes are fresh with much
seafood.
Famous Kimchi varieties of the region include Ggagduki with
salt-pickled pollack guts, Strip-Sliced Kimchi, Dongchimi
(radich liquid Kimchi), Eggplant Kimchi, and Seafood Kimchi. The
seafood Kimchi is especially famous. It also contains much protein from
Alaska pollack, cuttlefish and squids which are abundant in the East Sea.
