'Know yourself' - Humanity is exploring the unique character of the human condition. Humanity is interpreting ourselves to ourselves, using the mind to understand the brain to understand the mind.
Humanity is unique in its ability to use itself to understand itself. It is shaped by both creation and destruction. Unlike any other creature, humans reflect on their condition, feel complex emotions, make moral choices, create expressions of their condition. In contrast to the utilitarian goals that drive the Toolmaker, the Humanity zone looks at concerns of humankind that have remained stable over the past twenty centuries - creativity, morality, human rights, sexuality.
