A-BOMB DOME
1.Designation of the item: A-bomb dome
2.Location: Hiroshima Prefecture, Hiroshima city
3.Outline of the item
The A-bomb dome is the remains of the Hiroshima Prefectural Products Exhibition Hall destroyed
by the dropping of the atomic bomb at the end of World War II on Hiroshima. Later it was preserved
unchanged within the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.
The A-bomb dome shall convey the message of the terrible disaster of the first use of an atomic
weapon in human history beyond its own area and thus contribute to the promotion of a complete
ban of nuclear weapons. It also continues to remind us of the importance of lasting peace and
stands as an epitaph for peace common to all.
