On January 13, 1992, NTT responds to requests for a unique, completely new telegram with a three-dimensional aspect, offering a telegram framed on a lacquered background with a design of twin flying cranes. This first lacquered telegram sells for 5,000 yen plus telegram charges. Requests are accepted throughout Japan for delivery of this congratulatory telegram within the 23 wards of metropolitan Tokyo plus the surrounding prefectures of Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama.
