The world's cultural heritage in art, architecture, tools and archaeology could also be stored on the networks in digital form. Such a system would allow new possibilities in maintenance and renovation of structures and objects which could only be done in their "virtual form".

We at Research Centre for Media Aesthetic@Kyoto University of Art and Design have a main project, which is called "Digital Japanesque" project. One of the most principal theme of this project is " Digital Archives Project ". In this project we try to construct a visual database of traditional Japanese aesthetics. This " Digital Archives" would classify Japanese painting, architecture, pattern, tools and handicrafts by the historical period, style spiritual background, colour, and shape.
