Dear Carl Malamud and Vint Cerf, As you may know, Ebone is a consortium of around 50 Internet Service providers in 24 countries. The consortium operates a backbone connecting the members to each other as well as to the global Internet. The backbone speed is general at the E1 level, but we plan to install our first 34 Mbps lines in the first quarter of 1996. Members of the Ebone consortium have followed your preparations for the Internet 1996 World Exposition and for the Internet Railroad with great interest and we congratulate you with progress so far. We are convinced that Ebone members and their customers will want to be part of the World Exposition both to learn and to promote the Internet and its uses. While Ebone cannot dedicate resources to the World Exposition, we certainly want to connect to the Internet Railroad in order to facilitate access to the Exposition from our community. We look forward to discuss with you how this could technically take place with due regard to the Railroad topology and to the Ebone topology as well as the normal use of the Ebone backbone. Kind regards Christian Michau, Ebone chairman Frode Greisen, Ebone general manager
