Invitation to Congressional Hearings, July 26
bullet bullet bullet bullet

On July 26 at 9:30 AM, we'll be hosting the first-ever Congressional Hearings over the Internet. Congressman Markey will bring the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and Finance over to the grand ballroom of the National Press Club to hold oversight hearings on "The Role of Government in Cyberspace."

We're bringing 30 Sparcstations into the hearing room. 10 of the machines are for the Congress and staff. The other 20 are out in the audience, 2 to a table on 10 tables. Each table represents a different community in the global village: kids, librarians, etc... The point we'll be making is that this is not just a research prototype being used by a few ARPA contractors. (:-). Each of the Sparcstations will run things like Mosaic, Xgopher, etc....

I'd like to invite both of you to attend these hearings and take a place at the "Internet" table. The hearings look like they'll be quite visible, given the join sponsorship by the National Press Club, Sun Microsystems, ARPA, and the U.S. Congress.

Regards,

Carl

P.S. Vint - I'll be sending you another note inviting Internet Society members to attend the hearings and to come in the afternoon when we hold an open house followed by a reception.
