Means of Transportation in Mongolia
The horse is still used as a means of transportation in the countryside. The maximum distance that a horse can travel in one day is about 40 km. This is about the same as the distance between the relay posts called jamchi built by Genghis Khan.
The next means of transportation is the camel. Almost half of the camels bred in Mongolia are bred in the Gobi Desert.
In recent years, the use of these animals as a means of transportation is getting less.
Jeeps and bikes are taking the place of horses and the truck is taking the place of camels. Big cities are connected by bus as well as locations within the city. But when we think of refueling and machine break downs, the horse and camel still have the advantage.
