Kosuke Tsumura

Kosuke Tsumura was born in 1959 in Saitama, Japan. He was awarded the 52nd So-en Prize in 1982. He joined Miyake Design Studio in 1983. In 1994, he received the 12th New Designer Award of Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix from the Mainichi Newspapers and the Shiseido Encouragement Award. In the same year, he presented his collection at Paris Collection for the first time. Since then, he has presented his collection at Paris Collection as "KOSUKE TSUMURA" twice a year. While having worked as a fashion designer, he has also continued to create as an artist focusing on the contemporary age, society, and city. He has held solo exhibitions 8 times since 1986 to the present. In 1992, he was awarded the 2nd Prize at the 21st Contemporary Art Exhibition of Japan held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art and the Shimonoseki City Art Museum. The art exhibitions Tsumura has exhibited his works include "Adventure of Hands -the world of image sketch" (Miyagi Prefectural Museum), "Art Today 1994 Sanctuary" (Sezon Museum of Modern Art), and "La mode: le miroir du monde, du XVIe au XXe siecle" (Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts).
