Thien Mu Pagoda,built on a hillock overlooking the Huong river, is one of the most famous structures in all of Vietnam. Its 21 metre high octagonal tower, seven storey Thap Phuoc Duyen, was built by Emperor Thieu Tri in 1844. Each of the seven storeys is dedicated to a Buddha who appeared in human form Thien Mu Pagoda was founded in 1601 by the Nguyen Lord Nguyen Hoang, governor of Thuan Hoa Province.
