Lake is separated from West Lake by Thanh Nien Str, which is lined with flame trees. In the 18th century, the Trinh Lords built a palace on this site. It was later turned in to a reformatory for deviant royal concubines condemned. These concubines lived by weaving silk. The silk they weaved was fine white. The name of the lake came from this story.
