Hoan Kiem Lake is an enchanting body of water right in the heart of Hanoi. Legend has it that in the mid-15th century, Heaven gave Emperor Le Thai To a magnical sword which he used to drive the Chinese invadors out of Vietnam. One day, after war, while out boating,a giant golden tortoise swimming on the surface of water grabbed the sword and disappeard as if the tortoise restored the sword to its owners.Now the tiny Tortois Pagoda is in the middle of Lake.
