The pagoda was built in 2 years (1646-1647) in Thuan Thanh district, Ha Bac Province, 30 km from Hanoi. An outstanding feature of the pagoda is the gilded statue of Buddha with 1,000 eyes and 1,000 hands. This 3.7 metre monument may be regard as the culmination of Vietnamese carving art more than three centuries ago. There is also a 13.05 metre high tower named Bao Nghiem erected with green marble and lively carvings.
