Women's welfare encompasses a very broad category; at present all safeguards given to women by various government agencies according to their sphere of responsibility and the concept of the equality of the sexes can be considered women's welfare measures. The following are some primary examples:
- Safeguards of women's equality and their right to participate in political activities.
- Safeguards of women's lives, physical freedom, and marital relationships. (responsible authorities: police and legal units)
- Safeguards of women's property, inheritance, and guardianship rights. (responsible authorities: legal units)
- Safeguards of women's right to work; this includes the safety of female workers, occupational welfare, equal pay for equal work, and employment services. The government agencies responsible for implementing these safeguards include the Executive Yuan Council of Labor Affairs and local labor bureaus. In addition, childbirth and maternity leave has also been instituted for female civil servants (responsible authority: Central Personnel Administration, Executive Yuan).
- Protection of women's health. (responsible authorities : health and labor agencies)
- Welfare and relief measures aimed at women; these include relief and protection for battered women, integrated women's welfare services, and general women's welfare service activities such as parent-child and personal growth education. (responsible authorities: Ministry of the Interior)
