Tawushan Nature Preserve

Tawushan is the largest of Taiwan's fifteen nature preserves, Comparable to Yushan National Park and Shei-pa National Park in its level of naturalness, Tawushan's lower elevation and more southern location give it a warmer climate than either of these other two large mountain protection areas. Tawushan's temperate and sub-tropical forests provide a relatively pristine home for Formosan black bear, pangolin, Swinhoe's pheasant, and wild boar. The last verified sightings of the Taiwan clouded leopard were in the region of this Nature Preserve.
