Implementing the National Health Insurance Program and Enhancing Public Health Care


Since the implementation of the National Health Insurance program, nearly 9 million previously uninsured people have gained insurance coverage. Presently, over 91 percent of the population is covered.
Over 90 percent of the hospitals and clinics in the Taiwan area have joined the National Health Insurance program.
The average number of hospital beds per 10,000 persons has risen to 48.98, and the number of physicians per 10,000 persons has increased to 11.55.
Government agencies are carrying out an universal inoculation program.
