In the past two years, the ROC central government reduced expenditures
by an average of US$1.4 billion annually, while revenues averaged a surplus
of US$1.58 billion a year. Government bond issuances were also reduced by
US$5.9 billion.

companies in Taiwan. Some US$6.04 billion in foreign capital has been
injected into local markets.
