Commentary on the Book of Changes

Chu Hsi (A.D. 1130-1200), Sung dynasty (A.D. 960-1279)
Ink on paper. Semi-cursive script. 36.5 x 61.8 cm

Chu Hsi (style names Yuan-hui and Chung-hui) was the patriarch of Neo-Confucianism in the Sung dynasty. He excelled in semi-cursive script, especially large-sized characters. The brushwork of this album is simple and unadorned which strongly represents the calligraphic style of the Southern Sung scholar calligraphers.
