Carved eight-lobed lacquer dish with phoenix-and-peony motif

Yuan dynasty (A.D. 1279 1368)
Thickness: 3.2 cm Diameter: 27.0 cm

This dish is shaped like an eight-petalled flower and coated with black lacquer. The inside wall surface is carved with a pair of phoenixes interlaced with flowers and the outside wall covered with cloud decor.
