Earthenware jar

Warring States period (481-221 B.C.)
Height: 32.0 cm Depth: 27.3 cm Girth: 98.8 cm

This black-pottery wine jar is distinctive in form, in the shape of a silkworm cocoon gently pointed on both ends. With the exception of the thick curled lip, the neck and foot of the vessel appear completely balanced and symmetrical. The body is vertically circumscribed by simple three-line stripes.
