Ho, kettle

Shang dynasty, ca. 12th century B.C.

This spouted vessel with lobed body has four cylindrical legs. The unusual cover is in the form of a coiled dragon in high relief. The handle opposite the spout is surmounted by an animal mask. The entire surface of the body and spout is decorated with k'uei-dragons and animal masks.
