Vivid as tropical flowers,
bold as cartoon heroes,
electric with life force,
molas can be a window into the spirit realm.
Some images, like the one alone at the top left,
seem to glower like the corner sculpture
of a Mayan monument burning under a blood red sun.
Like all molas, it is the product of hand
stitching. Layers of cotton cloth and
thread are the only materials used in the
process known as reverse appliqué.
