Germaine Swanson, owner and chef at "Germaine's Restaurant" located near embassy row in Washington D.C. has created her own unique version of Vietnamese cuisine. During the Vietnamese War, Germaine met and married Dick Swanson, an American journalist. They often entertained at their home in Saigon, and the guest list seemed to grow ever longer.
When Saigon came under communist control, Dick returned to the United States and Germaine came with him. Their friends found they had a craving for more of Germaine's cooking. They suggested she open a restaurant. Today, Germaine's is the haunt of diplomats, movie stars, and even Presidents!
