An Eden of Apples

Apples in Myth and Folklore

No fruit, and possibly no food, plays a more prominent role in religion, myth, folklore, and literature than does the apple. Apples symbolize knowledge and simultaneously treachery. Apples are beloved and cherished--and poisoned. We eat an apple and fall from grace. An apple falls from a tree as a physicist dozes, and a new revolution awakens in the world of science.
