Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION
What is the difference between your 3D Model and pictures or photographs of 3D real world objects ?

ANSWER
Pictures are static and our 3D model data are not.

Once you have made your snapshot (e.g. of the prism on the right) the snapshot-photograph will never change anymore. The angle of view at the prism, see A on the right, can not be changed afterwards. It is what we call a perspective view or perspective projection. For a new view from another angle you will have to make a new snapshot.

Model B of the same prism, shows you (in wireframe projection) in a rather simplisized way, how we have the geometry of the prism available in our 3D Model.

At any time we can transform our 3D model data into:

a Virtual Reality Markup Language model

or

make all kind of rendered snapshots, as we present to you now already of Amsterdam

or

paste photographs on the faces of the buildingblocks and make Quicktime or AVI format video's/movies

or

paste 17th century based architectural drawings of houses on the faces of the buildingblocks and walk through Amsterdam as it was 300 years ago.
