The Korean peninsula is long from South to North and narrow from East to
West. Korea has a varied terrain. The Northern part of Korea is mountaeous
and the Southern part of Korea is open field. This is the reason why each
locality shows its own food characteristics. Comparatively, the Northern part of Korea does not have properly salted food because of its weather - a short summer and long winter. Moving into southern part of Korea, where foods are usually hot and spicy with many tastes of pickled side dishes. Today, however, Koreans have adopted many western styles of food. Yet, Korean traditional food is loved by most Koreans as well as foreigners. |
