Yoon Dong Joo (1917 - 1945)

He was born in 1917. In 1941 after graduating Yonhee Vocational School (now Yonsei University) in 1942, he attended Rikyo University majoring in English Literature but transferred to Toshishya University.

But in 1943 in Korea while on vacation, he was arrested falsely as a political offender and died in prison. In 1948 his posthumous poems were found and were later made into a collection called 'Heaven and Wind Stars and Poems'. His poems express futility in living and rebellion against Japan, the reality of Korea at that time and Christian suffering.
