Korea's first and best video artist. PAIK NAM JUNE( 1932- ) VIRTUAL GALLERY Having been a musician, composer and a performance artist during l950 and l960, contributes much to his being a video artist today. Although he is careful and has a philosophical mind, his own interpretation toward irrational circumstances helps him to understand technologic and social reality. The reason Paik Nam June is recognized is not just in his video art works but because of his understanding in the systematic form of spontaneity. This accounts for much of his objects for his video art work. Rewesenting Germany at the Venice Biennalle in l993, he won the Golden Lion Award, and Germany's Capital Maga=ine ranked him fifth place for 2 consecutive years as the best artist in the world. |
