KONG OK JIN

Koreans speak of her as the best "beggar" dancer. Whenever audiences see her performance, one can't help laughing and crying at the same time. Although her petite figure in white clothes make her appear frail, her power is tremendous.

Her grandfather and father were great pansori(song of a traditional drama) singers. And they influenced her much.

She is a great pansori singer and learned dancing from a former great, Choi Seung Hee. Kong's salguri(traditional dance) is perceived as the best and she has made appearances nation wide.

Her so called "beggar" dances also have imitations of monkeys and pumas. This shows that she collaborates traditional was with her own creativity.

Kong ok jin is able to perform shimchungchun and huengbuchun (traditional dramas) but the reason she does "beggar" dances is that she wants to feel close to middle class common people.

Through her dances she shows us her way of life and the person that she is.
