Established in l950, the National Museum has emphazised the preservation of traditional culture. The museum has 7 affiliated groups and the National Museum represents the facility of performing arts in Korea.

The museum's plays, traditional plays, Korean dance, ballet chorus and opera groups hold their hold their performances here and overseas.

In 1973 the museum moved from Myongdong to the heart of Seoul, Namsan and Changchungdong. A water fountain with bronze statued in Korean dance poses sits in the center. Between the Main theater and small theater is an outdoor performance area.

Behind the main theater is the rehearsal room, makeup room, film processing room, clothing and accessories room.

Take the number three subway and get off at Dongkuk University. Walk about 20 minutes.
