PROCEDURE ON DEVELOPING THE MAIN TOPIC

• APEC Workshop to develop the Main Topic: July, 1996, in Korea
  • At the WGIST Ad-hoc Task Force meeting, it was requested that the concept paper(s) be circulated by mid-May to enable member economies to consider and review them before 10 June. Korea asks member economies to provide by 10 June:
    - any further suggestions on the agenda for the workshop, and
    - a name list of their representatives to the workshop.
  • Korea will circulate the final program of the workshop by the end of June.
  • The Workshop will discuss:

    - the concept paper(s) on the main topic and Multifunctional Networks for Research and Technology Resources (MNRTR) which was proposed by Korea
    - the slogan
    - how the topic ("Role of Women in S&T") will be handled at the Ministers' Conference the process for reporting the progress of the 29 projects
    - the agenda (including concrete time frame) of the Ministers' Conference

  • The workshop will involve an experts session (WGIST members and experts in- vited by Korea) and a session for WGIST members.

• 11th WGIST (September 25-27, 1996, in Australia)
  • Endorsement of the Main Topic and the agenda of the Seoul Conference
  • Endorsement of the Workshop results
