III. Main Projects
A. Section of Research Projects
1. Research on Legislatibe Policy
To contribute to efficient execution of national policies by suggesting directions of
government legislative policy, and providing rapid and timely legislative measures to solve
pending problems, through comprehensive study on all laws and regulations in force, and to
securing consistency in system of laws and regulations by striving for rationalizing process
of legislation.
2. Research on Basic Laws
To contrivute to securing and reinforcing normative power of existing legislation and
qualitative improvement of law through survey and analysis of opinions of all social
standings, which are the ground of legislative policy, measurement of estangement between
law system and law reality, and quest of possibility to uphold and develop traditional
legislation of Korea. To help in unified legislation in the future through survey and research
on legal system and life in the North Korea.
3. Research on Foreign Legislation
To furnish materials necessary for establishing legislative policy through extensice collection,
arrangement and analysis of foreign law information as well as comparative analysis of
foreign law information as well as comparative analysis of various legislations of major
foreign countries, and to offer legal basis to activate political and economic interchanges with
them through concentrated research on old socialist legislation of Russia, Eastern Europe,
China, etc.
B. Section of Research Cooperation Projects
To enhance efficiency of legislation-related research by constructing close research
cooperation system in legislation field with domestic and foreign research institutions, and to
reflect on research various and broad views of experts in all circles on legislation-related
issues through holding of academic meetings, scientific bulletin, etc.
C. Section of Law Information Projects
To offer diversified services, such as on-line service to citizens, CD-ROM, etc., by building
up database of all materials related to laws and regulations, such as current Korean Laws
and English version thereof, history of laws and regulations, administrative regulations,
bylaws, cases, information on literatures, etc., and to drive forward plan to establish
nation-wide 'General Law Information Center' in connection with overseas netwarks.
D. Section of Compilation Projects
To publish and disseminate the Current Laws of the Republic of Korea and English version
thereof, collection of law and regulation histories, books of current directives, legislation
commentaries, etc., for the purpose of systematic collection and management, and rapid and
exact dissemination, of law information.
To offer materials concernig current laws and regulations through distribution of 'Legislation',
a periodical legal journal published every months.
