Travel in Sri Lanka
| There is a good network of metalled roads throughout the island connecting all principal towns. Hiring vehicles comprise
cars, coaches, and self drive cars with or without A.C. Taxies are available in Colombo and in most of the principal
towns. Taxis charge between Rs. 12-15 per kilometer traveled while auto rickshaws cost about Rs. 10. Yellow radio taxis
are small Japanese cars with little space. The meters work and are reliable unlike in the Morris Minor taxis and auto
rickshaws where a price should be agreed before commencing the journey. Radio-controlled taxis, Ace Cabs (Tel. 501502) and (Kangaroo Cabs (Tel. 502888) charge Rs. 21 a kilometer traveled with a minimum charge of Rs. 28. |
