"Movement", the grass-roots movement of GLOBAL VISIONS EXPO. '97 started.
In past expositions various enterprises and institutions displayed goods and offered information in an unilateral fashion to passive visitors. In contrast, Global Visions Expo '97 strives for the establishment of genuine dialogue and communication through active participation of people who will actually create its content. The key to this is the concept of "movement."
"Let's utilize the Global Visions Expo '97 to dispatch information and leave something behind." Already, this movement is being put into action by the local people of Sendai. Diversified thematic projects such as "The Role of Volunteers in Meals for the Elderly," "Reducing the Distance Between Farmers and Consumers," and "Art Extends Beyond National Boundaries" are currently under consideration and concrete plans are taking shape. Beginning before the opening and continuing after its conclusion, the desire and aspiration to broaden the dialogue between people will change the static nature of past exhibitions and breath new life into the forthcoming Expo.
