Sports (Orizuru Athletic Meeting in Hiroshima)

What is the National Athletic Meet for the Physically Handicapped?

In 1964, the International Athletic Meet for the physically handicapped (the Tokyo Paralympics) was held just after the Tokyo Olympic Games. Taking that opportunity, the first National Athletic Meeting for the physically handicapped was held in 1965 in Gifu Prefecture. Since then, the National Athletic Meeting for the physically handicapped is held annually in a host prefecture within the Autumn National Athletic Meeting. This year Hiroshima Prefecture is scheduled to hold the 32nd National Athletic Meet for the physically handicapped. This is the first experience for the prefecture to have one.
