Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C.

The players of Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C. wear violet uniforms. The name Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C. originates from an episode closely related with the local admiral Terumoto Mori of the Sengoku period, the "three arrows", where the term is made of the Japanese word for three = SAN and the Italian word for arrow = FRECCE.
The core of the team has been founded in 1965 by Matsuda as the Japan Soccer League (JSL) and the team (at that time Toyo Industries) surprisingly won the first championship right for the first time. Later, the team lead the league for 4 consecutive years, forming a veteran team during a time now known as the "golden age".
Altogether 47 groups from all over Hiroshima Prefecture and Hiroshima City participate in the J-League. The game strategies inherited from the days of Matsuda are shaped according to the "European style" and led to a wonderful first price during its first stage in the second year of the J-League (June 1996).
Even if the matches tend to become speedy and fierce, the supporters of the Sanfrecce take pride in that their players always keep up the fair play. The team continues its efforts for improvement, while heading for the Japan No. 1 rank.
