Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium is the place for the citizens to enjoy sports
and recreation as well as the home stadium for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. The first
term of construction was completed in July 1957 and the second term in April 1958.
The construction cost was 256 million yen. The entire sum was donated by the business
world. A two-storied stand and other additions have been put on the stadium, and it is
now considered as one of the most modern baseball stadiums in Japan.
The total area of the stadium is 23,719.92 square meters, ground area 12,160 square
meters, the distance from the home base to the center field stands is 115.8 meters, and
that from the home base to the left or the right field stands 91.4 meters. Visitor
capacity is about 32,000.
The stadium, located in the central part of the city, is easy accessible.
Many fans come and enjoy games. It is a Mecca of amateur baseball and frequently
used by the youth and adults.
