Viewing the Ondo-no-Seto sea with the reflection of the Red Loop Bridge on it, the sea
appears to be very tranquil.
During At low tide the Ondo-no-Seto is connected by land with, so that even during high
tide the sea is here so shallow, that ships cannot pass. Tradition says that Taira-no-Kiyomori
suggested excavation of the strait.
After the completion of this work ships did not have to make a lengthy detour any longer.
Today, after the construction of the "Seto-Ohashi" (big Seto bridge) there is again a land
connection and the region has become a scenic spot for viewing cherry trees and camellia.
