In Toyohama of Hiroshima Prefecture single hook fishing of red sea bream has flourished
for a long time. Beside this, fishing using red throated loans and other traditional fishing
methods are also still used.
Native dishes like the "Taimen" (noodles with sea bream) or "Taihan" (rice with sea bream)
are cherished by the prefectural population. The catch of red sea bream in 1993 was 225 tons.
Also, young fish are released everywhere in the country. These young sea breams are also
released into the Hiroshima bay and even are fed for a certain period in an attempt to get
them accustomed to the region. This is called "port rearing". In 1994 the town Kinoe completed
a marine farm in the offing of the Inland sea of Japan that has attracted much attention from
all over Japan.
